This is a garment sewing class and we work with patterns. We’ll guide you through layout, fitting, cutting, machine techniques and sewing a garment step by step. This is a small class of six people so it is very one on one and even better when you have to seam rip you’ll have a friend to talk to while you do so. Come as little or as much as you want for this is a per week class. Beginners welcomed and ages 18 and up.
Instructor: Elizabeth Kobesky
Saturday mornings from 10am-12:30pm (2 1/2hrs)
Class Fee: 40$/class + fabric + notions *class is non-refundable so please be mindful when signing up*
Call Mulberry to sign up weekly. The class list for the week opens up each Monday morning at 10am when the store opens. Once signed up, come into Mulberry and pick out a pattern within your skill level and some fabric. This is important to do before class so you can prewash your fabric and be ready for you to get started. You must start a project from scratch with Liz, we ask this so we can get the fitting right from the beginning.
For classes, We do ask that you purchase your fabric from Mulberry Silks for your class projects. A 10% discount will be given to all students for class supplies. Please make sure to let staff members know you’re in class. Thank you for supporting our family owned, woman owned, small business.
We have a lot of notions you can use in our classroom for class but you will need your own:
- thread to match
- pins
- scissors
- a good working machine (We have machines to use just ask at sign up)
- machine needles
- other notions listed on back of pattern envelope (like interfacing, snaps and so on)
Be sure to write your name on all items you bring to class. We’re not responsible for lost items.

Liz is the owner of Mulberry Silks and has been teaching most of her life! She loves focusing on detail and conquering of fit. Taking a class with her, is learning from the master!
*** You can register by phone using a credit card or come by Mulberry Silks and pay by cash, check, or credit card. Class fees must be paid in full when you register. We please ask to be mindful when you sign up for class. Classes are popular. If a class is cancelled by the instructor, a full refund will be given. We’re sorry, but if you miss a class we cannot reschedule it nor can we make any fee adjustment. Fabrics and supplies must be purchased from Mulberry Silks prior to the date the class begins. We do offer our students a 10% discount on all supplies required for your project(s). In most cases, you will need to wash and dry your fabric before the first class, so come in and get a materials list, browse the store, and get started***
