Mulberry Silks & Fine Fabrics is family owned Mother and Daughter duo with the worlds best staff, who we call family and are very lucky to have. We focus is stocking fabrics for garment sewing and have been in business since 1982. We’re located in the heart of Carrboro, North Carolina an old cotton Mill. Carr Mill is full of many unique small shops and restaurant’s. Its a great day trip destination, also nestled next to the University of North Carolina.
We stock our small shop with fine fabrics from all over the world (Italy, Japan, India, England, China, Denmark, France, Poland, Belgium, France, Canada). We carry lots of Deadstock fabric from designers, small families, eco friendly, green certified and all over good people that we have been in business with for 43 years now. We really make a conscious decision of our curated selection of bolts in our store. Each piece of fabric, trim, button, or notion has been hand picked and chosen with careful consideration for our customers.
We carry a wide range of fashion fabrics including, silk (charmeuse, crepe de chine, dupioni, shantung), cotton (batiste, lawn, gauze, sateen, novelty, twill, sand washed, pique, solid basics), denim, linen, linen blends, rayon, viscose, corduroy, velvet, lace, wool, polyester ( satin, chiffon, georgette, charmeuse), canvas, jacquard, brocade, stretch knits, French terry/ sweater knits, texture, seersucker, eyelet and many other interesting finds.
Mulberry can take special order for solid silks and polyesters if your looking for a certain shade. We have a color card for you to choose. 1 to 3 yard minimum/ 2 week turn-around.
We also have a vast selection of sewing patterns, buttons, trims, zippers, thread, drafting supplies, cutting tools, drafting paper, marking tools and a whole notion wall (that we have personally tried ever notion).
We focus hard on creating a safe and welcoming space for our sewing community. Mulberry welcomes everyone to our store. If you love fabric, then we love you. We’re proud to be a true old fashioned fabric shop where we invite you to come in and touch, feel, and gaze at the fabric. Sift through our bolts and get inspired!
For our out of town guests and locals, please make sure to call or check our hours before you make the drive to see us. Being a small business we close time to time for workshops, holidays, and extreme weather. We’re also a small team of women, many being mothers, life happens! Our Saturdays are quite busy, so if you want a more peaceful shopping experience or one on one help, please come during the week.
