Machine Basics

Excited to start sewing but not sure where to start? This class is for the absolute beginner and assumes zero sewing experience. We will begin with an overview of the sewing machine and its components, and then move into hands-on practice. Learn all the skills you need to start machine sewing! This class is offered to ages 12 and above.

We have Pfaff, Bernina, and Brother machines at the shop that you will learn on. A needle and bobbin will be provided for our machines for this class. If you’re planning on bringing your machine, you must get approved by the instructor prior to class. Your machine must be in good working order and we ask that you supply your own needles and bobbin. Please make sure you bring your instruction manual. Thank you!

Meet the Maker: Bryanne Young

I am a curious and energetic garment sewist. I am interested equally in the practical strictures of design as I am the pull towards whimsy and creative self-expression. I believe that personal style is a fundamental form of voice, and that making clothes crafts a powerful link to the past, the future, and one another. Come sew with me!
